The Brief

This house had been renovated the previous year and now it was time for the garden! The 2,5 acre property, split by a back and front garden, needed to be cleared up, brought together into one large accessible garden offering different areas to be enjoyed such as an entertainment area and swimming pool, playground, fire pit, herb garden and a reflective seating area.

Result

A large flat area was cut and levelled in the front entrance garden, thus providing a large, flat expanse of lawn to be enjoyed for all ball sports. A beautiful rock wall was built to retain the ground and an attractive planting was implemented at the base of the wall as well as along the tiers.

A bench and pots were placed on the flat lawn area to not only break up the length of the expansive space but also provide a functional seating place within the garden. The entire area above and around the swimming pool was renovated and new timber retaining walls were built into the garden bed and stairs.

Gravel edged pathways were created to connect all the ‘rooms’ in the garden together and plenty of grasses and screening shrubs were used to screen off unsightly parts of the property. Large areas of bare ground were filled with hardy, sprawling plants and blank areas were given interest and filled with new plantings of taller shrubs to be viewed and enjoyed from the house patio.
