Gold Creek Road, Brookfield

The Brief

This property had the makings of a formal garden in a Queenslander setting, however the main garden and pool area became overgrown and had no sense of structure or particular style. My clients wanted to transform the dated 70’s swimming pool and red brick surrounds to a far more contemporary look and feel. They were keen to create more entertainment area and have this space double-up as a family gymnasium too.

The Result

By retaining the straight lines of the pool and replacing the red bricks with 600 x 600mm porcelain pavers, changing the waterline tiles to a more on-trend size and colour, as well as cladding the water fountain wall in a black Quartizite, the entire pool area took on a totally new and contemporary look and feel. We changed the water fountain to a more slender continuous fall and concealed the back of house pool pumps, pipes, etc, with timber screening to match in with the timber decking seen in close proximity.

A contemporary pool house was built to function as both an entertainment area as well as an outdoor gymnasium. The new pool room has a scillion roof in order to let in as much natural light as possible and bot block vies of the surrounding garden areas. Garden beds were given FormBoss corten edging and replenished with new enriched soil and mulch after planting. A selection of water-wise plants were chosen with an emphasis on less colour and more longevity of the plants.
